Tour Of The South Coast

This region, that stretches along the coast in the south of Salvador, between the Baía de Todos os Santos (All Saints Bay) and Ilhéus, is made up essencially of beaches, islands, mangroves, tropical rainforest, rivers and lagoons. This well preserved coast is also a region of agricultural substinance, where a diversity of plantations allow a true dive into a world of flavours and tropical trees, such as, the cocoa tree, dende oil palms, febre palms, clove, black pepper, rubber trees... In this region the island of Tinharé is located, known for its picturesque village, and the beaches of Morro de São Paulo, that offer the advantage of easy access from Salvador. Further south, continuing on from the island of Tinharé, is the island of Boipeba, divided between the Atlantic ocean and fresh river waters. It is a very peaceful place, a sanctuary in nature. Here the only worry is where to relax, where to take a swim in the natural sea pools or walk along the deserted beaches... Even further south, the peninsula of Maraú is a strip of land between the mangroves and the ocean, with the most beautiful beaches in Brazil. A boat trip across the Baía de Camamu (Camamu Bay), allows us to see numerous small islands, either covered in tropical vegetation, or inhabited by local shellfish fishermen. Crossing the peninsula by 4x4 vehicle to the south, we are impressed with the spectacle of the dunes, coconut trees and lagoons with a backdrop of tropical rainforest. In the extreme south of the peninsula, after sailing across the Una river by raft, we arrive in the small city of Itacaré, paradise for surfers. From Itacaré, the road passes through the region known as Costa do Cacau (Cocoa Coast), to arrive at the city of lhéus, land of the celebrated writer Jorge Amado and capital of the first cocoa region in the country.

Two Islands

This visit combines two options: Morro de São Paulo and Boipeba. The two-night hotel accommodation on each island allows a better knowledge of these natural places, and it also includes moments of leisure.
